Sam & Brian: The Fez Wedding Photos

I am so thankful to have been a part of this wedding day.

Like many couples getting married this year, Sam and Brian were unsure what would happen in the months leading up to their wedding day. But, very thankfully, they were able to get married on their original date and have their wedding day, surrounded by friends and family!

Sam and I grew up on the same street, just a few houses down from each other - when she was a senior, I even took her senior portraits (back in 2014)! She just so happens to be the first senior of mine who’s wedding I’ve also had the privilege to photograph (I so hope that happens more in the future! 💛It is so fun to see everything come full circle!)

While I had photographed Sam before, but had never photographed Brian, much less Sam and Brian together. I was so excited to find that both Sam AND Brian were incredibly natural in front of the camera - separate, and together! Getting genuine expression and emotion out of them both was so easy, and helped us capture the joy of their wedding day! And on top of that… their bridal party and families were so kind, and so much fun to work with!

We were able to stop by a friend’s house in Beaver for some portraits between the ceremony and reception in front of their beautiful gate, on the edge of their property. It made for the perfect backdrop for both bridal party and bride & groom photos, before we headed over to the Fez for the reception!

Sam and Brian, it was such an honor to be a part of your day. We just love you both and wish you all of the best in your marriage!

A suit never goes out of style - and really, it’s the perfect choice for a senior session at Hartwood! Not only is Anthony a super down-to-earth, kind guy - he’s also a total natural in front of the camera! And even though there were tons of kids having their prom photos taken around us, he never let it phase him - and I’m so excited to share a few favorites from his session! Congratulations on your senior year, Anthony!

One of my absolute favorite things I learned about Gracie during her senior session at McConnell’s Mill is that she is named after “Gracie Lou” (played by Sandra Bullock) from Miss Congeniality! And really (in the short time I got to spend with her!) I can tell that she’s much like the character she’s named after - kind and sweet, but tough and more than able to hold her own!

We had the most beautiful day for Gracie’s senior portraits, and were even able to find some flowers around the park to incorporate into her photos. Congratulations on your senior year, Gracie!

Adam’s senior session had a first for me in the near 10 years I’ve been taking senior photos - an airplane on a runway! Adam is heading into his senior year of school, with hopes of becoming a commercial pilot post-graduation! It only seemed fitting that we incorporate the airplane he’s been learning to fly on into his shoot. A huge thanks to the Butler Airport for letting us use the runway for some shots!

Before heading over to the airport, however, we spent a little time at Succop Nature Park, just down the road! Their new modern-looking barn made for a great architectural backdrop for the first part of Adam’s session.

Congratulations on your senior year, Adam!

Well friends, the season is upon us for senior photos, and I am absolutely LOVING it! And on one of the busiest nights I’ve ever seen at Hartwood Acres (which is saying something - I’ve been there a lot!), I had the pleasure of photographing Nailah to celebrate her upcoming senior year!

This joyful lady has a desire to go into the medical field post-high school, which I find to be even more impressive, considering everything that’s currently happening in our world! Her whole family came along to her session, which made the night all the more fun. I often have people ask if a parent, sibling, or friend can come along to a senior session, and my answer is always a resounding YES! Your people know how to make you smile. I have my bag of tricks… but your brother/sister/dad/mom/best friend knows you much better than I do!

So without further ado, check out some of my favorites from Nailah’s session below! Congratulations on your senior year, Nailah!!! 💛

Extended Family Photos in a Flower Field

Getting 17 people together for a family photo is no easy feat (and neither is getting everyone so perfectly coordinated!).

Besides the “usual” hurtle of getting everyone in the same place at the same time for photos, we were faced with a last minute location change, when we found out that a last minute wedding was scheduled at our original location. So, we quickly switched locations. Then we started looking at the radar… and found that a large rain storm was supposed to hit just before our start time!

Even after we made the call to continue on with the session, I drove to our location in a huge downpour, just praying that it would stop when we got there! And I can hardly believe it… but it did! It was definitely a gamble, but it ended up paying off. Even though the ground was wet and the clouds loomed around us, we were able to continue on with our session as planned!

I want to give a HUGE thanks to this family for giving me the honor of photographing them. I had such a wonderful time getting to hang out with you all!

Check out a few of my favorites from our time together below!

You might recognize these two from their wedding feature on the blog just over a year ago! I was so incredibly excited when they reached out to let me know 1) that they were expecting their first child, and 2) that they wanted me to take their maternity photos! Photographing these two (+1!) for a third time and celebrate the new season they are stepping into was such an honor.

We were able to use the most beautiful private farm for their session, too! It was such a dream to photograph them there. A huge thank you to the owner for allowing us to use their gorgeous property.

Congratulations, Cassidy & Dylan! 💛

Trent is an up and coming 2020 senior who loves soccer and ice cream! His family lives close to Adams Township Park (and he goes to Mars!), so going there for his senior photos was the perfect fit. Dark clouds loomed in the background for the majority of his session, and though we did get a small burst of rain mid-way through, it only started pouring as we were walking back to our cars! Talk about perfect timing!

Congratulations on your senior year, Trent!

Molly & Ryan: Hartwood Acres Maternity Photos

Almost a year ago, I photographed Molly & Ryan’s wedding day (click here to check it out!) and now, less than a year later, here I am sharing my favorite photos from their maternity session!

One of my favorite questions to ask when meeting with couples to discuss their wedding day is what they are most looking forward to about being married (I like to throw some tough questions out there! ;) ). Though sometimes it’s a question that throws people off-guard (it’s definitely a big one!), Molly and Ryan didn’t even hesitate with their answer: they were so, so excited to start a family. It makes my heart so happy to know that they are getting to start this new adventure!

Molly & Ryan, congratulations on your little one! I couldn’t have been more honored to get to take these photos for you two (three!).
